We are continuing our Feature Friday series to highlight the unique features of the b-hive platform. This week we are discussing drag-and-drop — a Broadvoice branded program that replaces legacy phone systems and softphones.

Drag-and-drop allows you to “drag” calls and call data to other users and extensions within your organization from the b-hive platform, offering a more convenient, efficient, and tech-savvy way to transfer, monitor, and manage your calls while also improving call efficiency.

When receiving an incoming call on a traditional phone system, basic caller ID information displays on the phone’s screen, and you have to answer the call, put the caller on hold, and then transfer the call using buttons on the phone. With the drag-and-drop feature, the caller’s information, such as their name, phone number, and status (if they’re an employee or someone in the organization), is displayed on your desktop screen, and you simply click and drag the caller to the call destination — no hardware or pushing buttons needed.

With legacy phone systems, it’s almost impossible to know if other users are available for calls. The drag-and-drop feature eliminates the guesswork, allowing you to monitor other users and see their availability. Using the Voice Operator Panel, you can see if users are available for calls (their status is green), on the phone (red status), or if their line is already ringing (flashing status).

The best part of the drag-and-drop feature is that call queues and availability update in real-time. Once you “drop” a call to its destination, the destination line will automatically begin ringing, and the user’s status will begin flashing. Once the user answers the call, their status will instantly update to red, and when the call ends, their status will change back to green in real-time.

Aside from the ability to transfer and monitor calls, the drag-and-drop feature also enables you to manage calls. When you right-click on an incoming call, you can put the call on hold, conference yourself and the caller to another user, add the number to the organization’s directory, transfer the call, or hang up — all from your desktop.

The drag-and-drop feature is a game-changer for phone systems, providing more capabilities and functionalities than traditional phone systems. The Broadvoice b-hive platform gives you all the tools and features you need to improve productivity and efficiency.
