New technologies and services are constantly being introduced; soon enough, there’s a new update or an advancement to the existing technology, and then another and another until there’s an entirely new technology to replace the original. Technologies come and go, but two have consistently withstood the test of time: fax and voicemail.
Fax and voicemail are arguably two of the oldest “modern” technologies to still be in use, and this speaks to just how useful they are for individuals and businesses alike. While they remain the same at their core, they have been modernized and updated to meet the needs of businesses and improve efficiency.
Fax
In the past, faxes were sent using traditional analog lines, but telecommunications companies like Broadvoice have created alternative options that don’t involve these outdated lines. (Check out our blog post for more information on the dissolution of analog lines.)
The b-hive platform offers three options for sending faxes, depending on the unique needs of your business.
- The first option is to use a traditional fax machine. We can provide you with an analog telephone adapter (ATA) that connects your fax machine to the internet, allowing you to send traditional faxes. This option allows you to keep your existing hardware while transitioning from analog to digital lines.
- The second option is to use the fax portal in b-hive Communicator. Using either the desktop version or the b-hive Communicator app, you can send faxes to designated recipients by typing in their number and dragging or uploading the file to the platform. From there, the system converts the document(s) into a fax and sends it to the destination. You even have the option to add a cover sheet if needed.
- The third option is to use your email account. To send a fax, you simply input a specific set of instructions in your email, and the system converts it into a fax and sends it to the destination. The best part is that you can manage your incoming faxes from your email account, so there’s no need to worry about switching apps or platforms.
Voicemail
Broadvoice has modernized voicemail technology, so you no longer have to rely on audio clips in your voicemail box. With the Broadvoice b-hive platform, your voicemail is accessible via your email. Every time you get a voicemail, you’ll receive an email with information about the call, such as the caller ID, phone number, and a time stamp, and a copy of the voicemail as an audio attachment. Because it’s in your email account, you can delete or forward the voicemail or store it for your records. We also offer voicemail to email transcription, so your voicemail can be transcribed into the body of the email.
There’s no need to reinvent the wheel when it comes to fax and voicemail. Broadvoice has updated the technologies for these services, making them more efficient without sacrificing their usability. Give your business an impactful upgrade by investing in Broadvoice b-hive.
